upgrade to hydraulic

i have a norco ryde ( 2007 ) and it has disc brakes ( not too sure what brand/model ) they aren't all that responsive and i was thinking about getting hydraulic brakes. is there an easier way to get them more responsive than buying a new set of brakes?

Adjust your lever's barrel adjusters. This makes the lever engage faster and grab the brakes sooner.

Good cables can help. If you don't want to splurge for the fancy Teflon lined type, get some Shimano XT cables and spritz some chain lube in them.

Your symptoms are a bit vague. No doubt proper adjustment or a new set of cables will make a huge difference.
