I think a lot of people are leery to post their personal information on the forums, so what may work better for you is to contact individuals directly. I have msn messenger, but I certainly wouldn't post my email online so others can find me. I'd rather just approach the people I get along with and add them to my list then make a date for when we can get together.

One thing I like about msn messenger is that there still is a modicum of privacy, assuming you don't broadcast your info all over the place. I want my msn to be a medium where I can contact the people I want to talk to, not the people I really don't care for too much or for strangers who I have absolutely nothing in common with, etc.

Spend some more time on the forums and contact the people you think you can get along with via PM and exchange your info and then you can create a good group of people you can hang with on msn messenger.

My 2 cents.

Ditto ...that is definately the best approach. And then of course there are people like me who like to keep the list to a minimum because I don't want to chat everytime I sit online

All my contact info is already on the site. Quite a few from the Bike Forums crew IM me from time to time to chat and talk about bikes.

you could also add your msn to your user profile, that way you'd have the little msn buddy at the bottom of your posts like i do. whoever wants to, can then add you to their list and contact you.

about having it up there for every tom, richard or harry to have, msn messenger is good in the sense that when people add you to their list you're notified. you can always block the person from the get-go, add them to your list and then msg them later to find out who they are and why they've added you. then there's always the block and "appear offline" features if you don't want to get bothered.

the only downfall i can think of is that it's your actual hotmail address that's being used, and gives spammers easy access to **** your inbox with garbage.

btw, jay_2004, where in ontario are you?
