rock shox dart 1 spring rattle

I recently bought a mtn. bike for my nephew that came with the rock shox dart 1. My question is I continuously hear the springs rattling inside the front fork tubes. Is this normal or what?

Thanks for the reply. Sad to say I am sure it is coming from the shock. I can take my hand and bang on the side of the fork and duplicate the rattle. Sounds just like the spring rattling in the tube. So from what I gather this is NOT normal.

Not normal, but disassembly is not difficult to find what is amiss. Consult the SRAM tech manual here:

Problem was the "rebound spring" was loose. REI repaired no charge as the bike was brand new.

Thanks all.
