Time for a new fork.

It's going on a slalom/4x bike that will be also used for other things, so no mentioning of sids. Leaning quite heavily towards a Marzocchi 4x world cup at the moment. Choices are:

Marzocchi 4x WC
Reba Team
Fox F100 RLC
2009 Rock Shox Reba.

What about a lowered Pike? Get that 20mm stiffness, and have the ability to run it a bit higher for those "other things" you mentioned.

Could even do the Solo Air version to make up for weight gained with the 20mm setup, and use the all travel spacer setup to fine tune your ride height.

Tough call otherwise, on the four you mention.

The pike is a dark horse at the moment.

I like my F100, but I'm not so sure I would 4X it.

dminor 05-27-08 04:01 PM

Well, I have to say it - - how 'bout an RST Space Jump?

xcracer13 05-27-08 04:29 PM

Smashy-hardtail or fully?

09 Reba.

ProFail 05-27-08 04:30 PM

Monster T

I j-play. Get the Marzocchi. Aren't all the other ones XC forks?

Dannihilator 05-27-08 04:52 PM

Hardtail.

He's swearing off all fullys based solely on the fact that his Fisher entirely lived up to its name by rolling over and playing dead :D

I feel more at home on a hardtail.

xcracer13 05-27-08 05:38 PM

Just curious but how big of a drop to flat have you done on a hardtail?

grudgemonkey 05-27-08 05:56 PM

If this is a vote, then I wish to elect the F100. All around most versatile and can be dialed in perfectly. The Reba is a close 2nd place.

I don't drop to flat.

That's the most clever thing I've heard around these parts in a loooooong time. +1,000,000:roflmao2:

Smashy...I was actually thinking about the Marz4x for my Komodo at some point. I think I'll end up going Vanilla or PIKE in the end though. The 4x is great fork on paper. Never ridden one myslf though.

I'm off the market for a fork for now, managed to get the travel adjust to quasi work on the Talas.

I now have 100mm and 140mm.

achc 05-28-08 07:05 PM

If you are going for 4x, it will be the Marzocchi out of those four.

Reba Team - its an XC fork
Fox F100 RLC - its an XC fork
if you want Fox and do 4x, get a Talas or at least a Float! Not the F100!

2009 Rock Shox Reba - I have no idea about vs. the 2008 one
....all I know is the the F80 climbs better then the Reba 80 (yes Reba 80mm) not 100mm as it was specially designed for the Bianchi Lewis!

Dannihilator 05-28-08 07:38 PM

I also may have ordered a fork and a hub today.
