bad cycling accident

hope that guy rots in jail |
Holy S(&%! That picture doesn't even look real!... I don't see how he couldn't go to jail.
|
There are many people who never think twice, they believe it's OK to drive when they've been drinking. It is wrong wrong wrong and those that do should be severely punished. This guy should indeed have to rot in jail.
Also got me to thinking that someone who is found under the influence while riding a bike on a public road/byway should also have punishment meted out to them as well. |
I had a friend who was stopped and ticketed while drinking and riding. He was also sans lights...not one of his finer moments.
|
Most dui cases are cut and dry, such stupidity in driving drunk and to fall asleep at the wheel seems excessive. I guess only time will tell where it will go, at the very least there is enough of a concern, for the individuals, to share the information with the cycling community at large. To many deaths for alcohol, Ken Kifer was killed because some fool decided to drink and then drive. Even on a bike intoxication can be dangerous but not near as much as 1000 pound car would have.
|
From what I read the driver was an American in Mexico. If he avoids jail it will only be because our State Department gets him out of it. And I suspect that would happen only if this guy has political connections.
|
I dont care, american citizen or not, that guy should rot in jail for 20-life whether or not its in an american or mexican prison.
|
They said that if he goes to jail in Mexico he's onnly getting 1-2 years :mad:
|
Haha but at least they get daily beatings, a cup of water, and a piece of plywood in Mexican jails.
Vs. U.S. A/C cells, with ample rations, and decent sleeping conditions |

I passed by an accident when I was riding to school yesterday and later found out that it was a biker that had been hit and killed. Very sad and a very good reminder to me that I should wear my helmet while commuting not just on trails (something I've been very bad about this year).
|
very tragic accident. condolences to surviving family & friends. :(
|
I wouldn't want to do 2 years in a Mexican prison. The guy deserves to be punished.
|
Holy cow. What a terrible thing to happen. I agree that the "driver" should get some serious punishment, as at least one man is dead.
... Brad |
yeah it makes sense he should be punished but what is to stop him from doing it again?

yeah that may do the trick what about the numerous other drivers who will do the same, who will go ahead and drink and try and drive a vehicle. If one person is sentenced to death, how many others will do the same, I mean you can never be sure, and DUI does not usually result in the death penalty.
It is a sad story surely, the punishment is often far to minor, a night of dry out in a holding cell, suspension of a license and yet it still occurs. Is there any sure way to insure people do not drink and then drive? |

I disagree 200%...unfortunately people dont understand that its all about being able to "carry" your alcohol...man up and handle what youve drank...so there is nothing wrong with drinking and driving (IMHO I drive better and my reflexes are much faster when Ive been drinking lots of beer with a mix of tequila) ---if you cant carry your alcohol your not man enough to drink at all...just my 2 cents
edit>btw have you heard about that student who died of cocain OD??? in her teachers house???!!!???? well its drugs...but like I said she couldnt handle it...noob sniffer Oh, my friends and I had opportunity to drink with some young hollywood celebs last Mardi Gras and they could not hang with us. One of the girls, known for her drinking, even said that she couldn't hang and proceeded to puke. New Orleanians are legendary...even out drank some Micks at Finn McCool's one Saturday night....guess it helps that most of my friends and I started drinking at 11 :) |
Sorry to end the conversation short, but let's not start going into politics.
