American Classic hub seals

So, I was on the verge of getting a set of American classic disc wheels when a friend of mine told me that the seals on the hubs are "sub par"... he actually used terms inappropriate for the forum. Basically he said I would be changing my bearings as soon as I rode a race in bad conditions. I would really like more than anecdotal evidence... particularly since I can't touch a comparable set for the price. Does anyone have any experience with these wheels?

Keep in mind that I live in Southern AZ, so it's usually pretty dry here. (tho when it does rain during the monsoon months, it's awfully impressive.) I've had a set of AC 350 disc wheels since 3/05. I've never had the bugs serviced at all. I finally brought them in to the shop to make sure everything was okay after 3 years of a reasonable amount of use, and the shop called me back to say there was nothing for them to do. The hubs didn't even need any kind of adjustment at all.

And I have done some riding in wet conditions, it's just not the regular thing out here.

So, count me as one very happy customer.
