Industry Nine Rear Hub Issues
I'm running a 3 pawl engagement setup and when freewheeling or coasting, the ticking/buzzing sound is inconsistent like it's loud/quiet/loud/quiet and only over one part of the hub. Is something out of round? I'm a novice when it comes to wrenching on my bike, but two shops have had a go at the hub and can't figure it out either.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |
How new is it?

My old dt swiss hubs did that.. so do my new hope hubs.. I would say its normal.

My I9 did that when it was newer (i.e., going through the break in process). It's more consistent now but still varies. And like mcoine mentioned, my other hubs do it as well...just more obvious on the noisier ones. And it's even more obvious on the 3 degree I9 hubs because they have 120 engagement points.

All of my hubs do this.

I think it could have to do with how the grease has settled and is distributed in the hub.
