Can somebody give me the skinny on Truvativ Stylos?
 

I've been considering upgrading my cranks (a set of Shimanos, M470s or something I think) to something more capable for XC. XT/XTR is crazy expensive, so I'm thinking I'll get the Truvativ Stylo series a try. Thing is, there seem to be a lot of different models; Can anyone gimme a rundown of each one and the differences between them? I'm pretty lightweight so I don't need anything mega-stiff. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure xcracer13 runs Stylos.

I run two sets. One is on a Titus Moto-lite and one is on a IndyFab 29er SS. They are super reliable and have never let me down. The bearings are great and the cranks are cheap enough that if I destroyed one I would not cry about it. They have served me well and I am a clyde @ 260lbs so they do hold up under extreme loads as well

i use the ss version on my cannondale...have to say that the bearings in the bb arent the greatest, and the fact that they dont snug up nicely on the drive side is a little disconcerting when you look at it.

but, on the trail they have been nothing but reliable and pretty light when you look at options from race face or shimano that cost about the same.

I have had these on three different bikes.
I've had my latest set for about 6 months and the bearing are already complaining, but my past set I had for a year and a half with no grinding or creaking. I was riding a lot lighter then, than I do on my new bike.

I've also had recurring problems with the non-drive side crank arm loosening rather quickly/ falling off occasionally on at least two sets. I have to tighten the bolt weekly now. My riding buddy also had problems with this.

Over all I haven't been really impressed, but for the price and weight they aren't bad I guess. I know that once the ones on my enduro are thoroughly shot I'm gonna get some shimanos.

I have the Stylo Team GXP on my rigid SS. It works great. No maintenance for 2 [3?] years, including a winter's worth of commuting to work in snow and salt. No flex to speak of, but a big part of that is the stiff frame.

I have the el cheap stylo single speed cranks on a moto 29er and they are fine I also am a heft fellow
