Anyone enjoying the Northwest Washington snow??
 

It generally doesn't snow up in Northwest Washington, any locals have good stories from riding??

This morning I decided to take a ride on the three inches of snow that we got around here...it was fun at first. I got into some great downhills, and got a good workout coming up them cuase of the spinning. I went and got my friend, and we rode back to this large hill...very long, and the best part of the trail, I had already hit it today, and so it was okay even with the snow, we rode back to the top, which the road is about 500 feet long with a steep incline the whole way. Its a very narrow road, you couldn't drive up it without bottoming out, and there is some very large rocks; I didn't pay attention to where the snow was coming off my wheel, but it was going right into my brakes, so we got to the top, and he wanted to race me to the bottom, so we started off, I hit the first turn, and lightly tap the brakes, and try to go inside on the corner...I didn't want to slide with the snow and all, well it didn't work, and so I jammed on hard, and they weren't even cathing, I was heading right for a big fence post, I could here my friend luaghing behind me, so instead off stoping I kept going barely correcting it, we blast off that part of the trail, onto the gravel stretch, where its pretty strait, but I have gone through more flats on this part of the trail than you can imagine, I still have no brakes, I thought that maybe they would have cleared out, so I am coming down this thing full bore, when I hit another patch of snow, and I generally don't ride in this rut cuase of the pot holes, but I couldn't swith sides cuase the middle is like a foot high...its easy when its dry, but on the snow, you just slide....I had a lot of air...anyway, very scarry ride this morning, anyone else having fun in this Northwest snow??

No real snow in my neck of the woods yet expecting some this weekend. We had snow Wednesday morning when I woke but it was gone by the time I got home from work in the early afternoon. I did a sweet ice slide this morning in Fremont the bike went out from underneath me on ice (I had just got back on from buying my morning shot) when I hit pavement (not hurt fell rather slowly) I slid about 20' on my back. The good thing was my coffee cup landed upside down so there was no spillage :D

Well, not out riding, but I took some pics from the back yard that look pretty nice...I'll have to post one or two if I can figure out how to resize them on my parents computer. The driving is kinda fun on the back roads... :D

I went out last sunday for a romp around tolt hill. Put the fatty tires on and broke some trails through about a foot of snow out there. Temp was below 30 degrees as the water in my camel bak froze and became useless dead weight. Fingers felt like they were gonna fall off. Note: wear warm snow gloves when biking in snow. A lot of branches weighed down with snow crossed the trails which I either blasted through or walked around. Crossed a frozen over creek which collapsed under my weight and suddenly I was in a half foot or so of water. Got water up in my front disc caliper and the brake froze up. Thawed itself out on a snowy downhill when it suddenly began to grip again the front tire locked and I slid off the trail a few feet. First time breaking xc trails in the snow. It was hard work. Breaking thru snow is sorta like riding in loose deep gravel. It would have been more fun if my fingers hadnt been aching.

The longer I live here the more I want to move to vancouver. Problem is vancouver has snow too. Damn I hate snow...

What you need to do is take an old set of tires, put roofing nails through them for traction, line it with duct tape, then put a tough tube inside. Then you can ride the ski lift up to the top and race the skiers down the slopes.

Hahaha....again...hahaha...not a chance...have you ever ridden in whistler. Its pure unadulterated powder. I walk it and sink like 4 ft. On a bike it would be worse. The only thing I would be racing is snowshoers ;) I was planning on trying to ride all winter...got out and couldn't pedal because the snow is too soft and deep. I just gotta suck it up, buy a snowboard and play two sports.

lots o snow in victoria- wiped out in front of an elderly fellow- he said canadian tire had a sale on sno-tires
-got called hardcore for riding to work (nice) when I went home @ 3 am, I did some downhill slides on the ice. don't think I'm up for it today- it's all ice under the snow.
