Buying my first FS bike.

I have been riding a rockhopper for the last 3 years and I am ready to get a FS bike. I am a fan of specialized, but I am not necessarily committed to the brand. I am a big rider, 6'6" 215 pounds, so while most of my riding is XC, I do want my bike to be able to handle a small 1-2 ft drop occasionally and handle some light downhill. I have been looking at the FSRxc Expert, it seems to be a pretty solid choice, but I heard somewhere that the rear shock is tuned for riders up to 160 and has to be re tuned by the manufacturer for bigger riders. The other option I have been pondering is the Pitch comp. It has a bit more suspension and seems a bit beefer. It is also a bit more expensive than the FSRxc expert. But I think it would give me extra durablity without sacrificing too much xc ability. Do you think the FSRxc expert would be enough bike for me? Any other suggestions on comparable bikes? Thanks for your help!

See if you can test a 29er...as a taller rider, you might like it...

Your arent a clydesdale but it would be best to ask there since they would know more about stronger built bikes.

I'm with Kram, a 29er sounds like it would work a little better for you. I'm nowhere near as tall as you so I don't touch them, but it might handle pretty well for your size.

Enduro may be a better fit for both you and your intended riding style (especially if you really do want to engage in "light downhill" - -i.e. - aggressive trail-riding). They climb well and you might find XL size frame to be generous even. My son has an '07 Enduro S-Works and, at 6'-4", the Large fits him just right.
