And instead it's full of gearheads, posers, pissing contests and testosterone pumped idiots.

I feel right at home. But if you don't mind I'll continue to look for the softer, gentler, tree-hugging side of you knobby tired whack jobs. The part that really surprises me the most is that riding in the woods regularly for a couple of months has me appreciating the 'what the F I'm out in friggin Nature all alone, this is pretty friggin cool' part of the sport. That has been the coolest part.

I'm really a city boy at heart. Raised hard by the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken, NJ in the 1960s. Our livingroom window overlooked the NY City skyline (we lived over the Hudson River). So go figure.

If it makes you feel any better I would get the living crap beat out of me regularly in grade school for being too much of a smart ass. So what can any of you possibly do to intimidate me on BF? Not much.

I'm disappointed that you failed to make any mention of how many miles you have allegedly ridden in the last week, month, year, years (whether on the road or off road).

If you want to feel at home with, and blend in with the poseurs, you will need to mention those "facts" more often than you currently do.

In case you didn't notice, this is an internet forum; just about anything posters (poseurs) say here is alleged.

Your right- this is a cool sport, for myself one that is the stuff of epiphanies, a religious experience, if you will. My God rides a mountain bike.

Pcad-

I attend the Church of the Knobby Tire. Services are held- on the trail. But this is probably more like Rastafarian than anything else. The blessed sacrament is- you guessed it, a hearty bowl prior to the descent.

Give us this day our daily ride,

Don't waste your breath on this roadie boys.
Fenders and spandex is what he's all about.
A want-to-be mountain rider not wanting to learn.
Yawn... <--scared roadie at that.
