Any of you live near Pinehurst NC?
There is a possibility of a job for me in Pinehurst. Any of you NC riders know of any riding close by? Actually the proximity to the mountains is a big factor in my moving. I'm not going to pack up and move my family to live 4 hours away from the mountains.
Thanks

Yea I'v lived here my whole life.. But seeing this post was about 6 years ago I don't think I'm of any help for this time being. But just for the heck of it my riding consist of Dirt/Gravel Trails along the roads and when that runs out I go a few extra miles on the back roads where theres not many cars. They have group rides on the roads, but I have a mountain/hybrid bike and I like to go at my own pace and switch things up so it never gets stale.

I lived on the other side of Ft Bragg, in Fayetteville. There was one ok trail in town but I always drove out to the Raleigh area for trail riding. Check out trianglemtb.com for the trail locations.

This thread is funny.
To the Earth's Child, go ride in Uwharrie. Pinehurst is only 30 miles away from Troy via NC 211 and US 24/27. There are singletrack trails in the Wood Run Trail system off of 24/27 to the West and the Badin Lake OHV trails can be accessed from NC 109 to the North.

Soo weird, a few days ago I was searching google for NC mtb trails and didn't even see that one showing up. Even more so my mother use to teach 3rd grade up in Montgomery county and I would always help her during summer school so i'm pretty familiar with that part of town. I will deff. be checking out Uwharrie, your post really helped me out, Manny thanks!!

You're welcome, EC.
I rode the Badin Lake area OHV trails consistently from 1990-1995. They were pretty fun back then and some even had some challenging bits. Most of the other trail users in that area were pretty well behaved for a multi-use systen as it is.
The Wood Run MTB trail system was developed after I moved from the area, so I've never been able to ride there yet. I will someday though because of a vested interest in them. A chance encounter with an unpermitted equestrian group tour in 1994 that had some members issue threats towards me prompted a letter to the District Ranger. I still have the response from that letter and it appears to have been the final element in a decision to develop the Wood Run area.

A couple years ago, IMBA had plans to develop a portion of Uwharrie as a regional ride center link - haven't heard anything lately, though, other than a rumor that the idea got scrapped. I have ridden a fair bit on the moto down there - the multi use stuff is pretty ragged out, but the bike only trails I (inadvertently) poached seemed decent, although they were decidedly raw when compared to other trails in that region, e.g. Greensboro and N. Wilkesboro's engineered and buffed stuff.
