I know I can fork out a good bit for a used set on EBay...I have my eye on a set right now. But is there a good alternative purchasing a new set out there somewhere. Thanks

I have a set of 'vintage' XT 7 speed Rapidfire shifter/levers NIB (cantilever). They are destined for Ebay . I would have to get $120 for them if you were interested. Maybe too much for you. PM if interested.

If you call them old, they're worth $20. If you label them "vintage", they're worth $120.

They are indeed old by my standards. Reasonably rare to find unused in the box like this. Nothing I would ever use. Some people will jump on this stuff on Ebay, tho.

Yeah those old shifters are too expensive on EBay.... Would these do the trick... its an old 1992 GT 7 speed with a Shimano DX rear Derailleur with canti brakes.

Have you called some LBS in your area?

I have a 94 GT that had integrated shift/canti levers. I use this bike for rail trails/commuting now and wanted V's because, well, cantis blow.

I got Shimano 7 speed pods for $35 at one of my LBS, in stock. My LBS even had integrated units for $35. I opted to separate the brake & shifter. I found them for ~$25-$29 online, add $7-$10 shipping. I also picked up Avid brake levers for $20. Done deal, mounted those two with the V Brake take offs I already had and now have v brakes on an old GT. Oh, and it actually stops now unlike before. I guess once you get used to discs, canti's just don't cut it anymore.

Call around locally, lots of shops still have 7 speed shift pods available and after shipping, they are about the same cost as ordering online.
