No, I am talking about a bike getting you wet. Carbon does it to me every time.

Science has proved many times over that what you believe will 100% effect your perceptions. So I have no doubt that you 100% feel it and I have no doubt that I would 100% not feel it. And both of us are right.

Dude, I've been riding a Carbon hardtail for three + years, over 3000 miles seat time. Stop your speculation and regurgitating crap you've read. It's obvious you have no experience on this matter. Don't post out of your backside.

More race oriented - not for jumping off 5 foot boulders.

I had a 2005 SPECIALIZED enduro pro, I now have a 2008 enduro pro SL (carbon) - there is a difference - Better?, not necessarily, but different. I've taken both off drops over 8 ft (not as often on the carbon bike) - and they are both very capable. The difference with the CF bike is I have taken it down the local DH trails many times, and also have raced it in the cascade cream puff 100 mile off-road race - would not do that with my old one. The increase in stiffness and decrease in weight make it possible for designers to build a superior machine.

Also, I have a buddy that rides a titus FS and has crashed the hell out of it - scratches, nicks, gouges - layers missing - he rides harder that most and the bike is fine, no catastrophic failure or explosion - talk to people that ride the stuff, not the spectator speculators.

And - I have 2 HT ti bikes – best material ever.

You feel what you believe, it is that simple. That is not out of my backside. Go read some of the following books: "Sway" or "predictably irrational" or any other social econ books that are all the rage. They are study after study that prove that people's reality are affected by what they believe. As in people that have fake knee surgeries will rave about how their scope took away their pain. As in how two people watching the same sports play will believe 100% that the player was in or out of bounds (but opposite of each other). About how fake anti-depression pills are just as effective as real ones. (now I adding ones for this site)
Or how carbon feels so different than alum. How someone can feel Ti's rear suspension over bumps. How a carbon seatpost makes a big difference. It is in your head.

You see this crap all over this bike forum . . . but you see it on headphone forums (I am into nice headphones) and you see it on golf forums . . . people believe the can feel slight differences between things even though double blind studies prove that they cannot. You see it everywhere. You pay more, it is better - science have proved that time and again.

I would be very interested in reading some of this 'science' regarding the feel of carbon vs. aluminum. Links please?

I see "science" has swayed you with predictable irrationality. Again, go ride a carbon hardtail, then come back and talk.

Granted, everyone's particular impression of ride quality on a particular frame/frame material may be different and personal. But let's just put 'science' aside here and base our impression on actual riding experience.

I see a lot of hard tail riders in the photos, and from the description of the trail, I would say any good quality 100mm travel frame would be more than adequate.
Trek's Top fuel, Giant Anthem, Specialized Epic, GF Caliber/ Supercaliber/ Procaliber, Cannondale Scalpel
are some suggestions.
