Feedback on beginner's bike - 2006 Devinci Massai

Ok, so its finally time for me to buy a bike (haven't ridden in over 10 years!) - mostly so I can take my son who is just learning to ride around paths in Vancouver BC. I might try out the occasional light trail, but nothing extreme at all - the biggest abuse its likely to get is running into a sidewalk curb , really.

I'd rather buy a used bike from a reputable dealer than a new one from some big box retailer. I've come across a used (excellent condition) 2006 Devinci Massai for $350 CAD and would like to know if anyone has any feedback on either the model or components. I know...sub $500 for a xc/mountain bike is nothing, but again all I'm looking for is something entry-level but reliable that I can enjoy around city/park/light trails. Obviously I would test it out first hand before buying, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing on there is high-end, but it does look good enough to be reliable. Sounds great for what you're wanting to use it for.
