I picked up a Mongoose Raid/sting hardtail. I know it's a poverty bike, but I can't find it on the web, and I wanna know how good it really is. I paid $110 for it, on sale from like $189

As a commuter / ride around campus type of bike, it will work fine. It will wear out prematurely if you take it mountain biking or for any aggressive urban riding.

In my experience, even riding on the roads will destroy a walmart bike, especially if left to the elements when locked.

Yes, I consider an x-mart bike a consumable item like a pencil. As you use it, it wears out and once it's completely worn out you throw it away.
