rockshox recon travel adjustment questions

The fork is more specifically a rockshox recon 335 slite fork. The fork came stock with my specialized fsrxc expert 08 bike. At stock the fork has a rebound adjustment instead of the travel adjustment. With my lower weight i exchanged the coil for a less stiff one and it came with the travel adjustment. Now though if i adjust the travel more than 3 or so inches the fork makes a weird noise when compressed. Is this normal according to rockshox i should get 5 inches of travel?

Call Rock Shox (owned by SRAM) and tell them that you are a friend of Lance, they will fix you up
