I think it's great for the obvious, but I still think the big meats would not benefit so much in the dry. I think a good 2.2-2.4" tire would be noticeably snappier...especially for the singlespeed setup.
I only say that b/c I'm running a SB8 2.1r and Slant6 2.3f on my 26'er rigid SS and it's less effort and noticeably faster on the trail as a whole. Sure, the chop can be a bit of a chore, but the less choppy stuff between can be motored through with a maddening quickness.
Different strokes though...I'd still luv to have me a phatbyke.
Excellent addition to the thread though...though I don't know the frame numbers yet. Do you know the CS length and HA?

Shoot, don't know the numbers. And I was just looking at the Surly 2013 catalog the other day!

Thats the most overbuilt frame I have. That bike verges on unbreakable.

Does anybody own or has anyone ridden a ragley piglet? Interested in another long travel hardtail, have most of the parts, and the price is right. Thoughts?
