Tubeless tires vs regular tires

I havd my new super grissly bianchi mountain bike and it came with tubeless tires. On the first ride out I got a flat. I tried putting in tubes but then the ride was not smooth. On my 4th ride again I got a flat. I am fed up of tubeless tires. I covered only 165 miles on this tubeless tire bike. My other mountain bike with regular mountain bike tires and a tube inside has 5,000 miles in 5 years and I have never had a flat tire during a ride. I had too flats on this bike and that was just before I took it for a ride.

I would like to hear from bikers about their experience with tubeless tires and whether it is a good thing for me to get them off my new grissly mountain bike. I expect a mountain bike to be rugged, and mind you, all my rides on this was on the road.
Thanks,
merrorun

Check the tires for imbedded sharp objects.

Might be nice if you told us what TYPE of tires they were... the only flats I've EVER gotten running tubeless were OPERATOR ERROR!

yes tubes are so old tech! Ludites.

Only ever has 2 punctures with tubeless over the last 3 yrs and both times it was due to me not topping up the latex sealant in my otherwise conventional tyres. Stans No TUbes rule brothers!!

were they pinchflats, did you find a hole, etc.what was approx.psi, were you jumping, were they quick or slow flats, did someone maybe "deflate" your tires while you were off the bike?details give us more details. mutanos have a good sidewall from what i have seen and seem to be a good tire although i am not familiar with the USTs.i use "notubes"its great stuff even for UST tires as a flat preventative.make sure your psi does not get too low or you will lose your bead just like a car tire the notubes lets the psi get lower than just tires.what type of rims are they on also?good luck and i think you will in time be glad you have tubeless

Pinch flats are easy to get with tubeless tires. My guess is he wasn't running enough pressure for the conditions. I've gotten two total flats in probably a year or more of riding, both were pinches sustained from running pressure too low. You CAN pinch flat a tubeless tire. It's easy to let the pressure slip if you don't keep up with the pressure, especially if you lay your bike down for a week and dont bother to check the pressure before you ride. Tubeless tires need to be aired or checked before every ride for pressure.

i have added air to my notubes only once since putting them on. that is way cool!thats been about a month now.that stuff is soo cool.i have tried to make that stuff lose a bead except for low air i cant seem to get a flat.even hit stuff sideways to try and peel tires off rims ,like drop off curb or rock or climbing rock

Yeah, tubeless tires are bomb proof especially when you're running the sealant. They're also less likely to leak air when sitting in the garage waiting for the next ride! I'm not running the fluid currently, but when I used it in the past it held air BETTER than my tubed tires.

Why not justify what you said (by laughing) I am not disagreeing with you but it might help the person wondering why you are 'rotflao'

Exactly. Maybe instead of wasting bandwidth you could quantify it? Otherwise I've no reason to assume that you were doing anything but wasting people's time.

"wasting bandwidth" !!!

OH MY!!

CALL THE BANDWIDTH POLICE!!!!

Nope, not wasting people's time by making absolute claims, like someone in this thread...

I've seen tubeless + sealant setups fail, hence they aren't "bombproof," as someone who, to borrow your phrase, was "talking out their ass" claimed.

Get it?

are you saying you do not agree that tubeless is the way to go?nothing is "bombproof" but it is a good way to express that if i use this product it will give ME good results. as we come up with ways to protect ourselves from bombs they keep making them bigger.as technology gets better we find ways to push the limits of that technology.ROTFL is not what id be doing if my tires had failed.it might be more like rotgsoth(roll on the ground saying ouch that hurt).there are a lot of opinions here and all of them have merit so please do not forget we do not all agree with each other always.this is a good place to learn about biking and you guys come up with some REALLY funny stuff at times!keep up the good work please

i happen to agree that notubes is best for me.it gives me better traction, confidence, shock absorbtion ,dont have to add air each ride,i have yet to get a blowout and i have done some things i would not have dreamed of before just to TRY to make them lose the bead.i agree that they are not for all people due to riding styles or setups(not all tires and rims work well with notubes) it is the best upgrade i have made to my bike EVER as far as making a big improvement in my riding ability and enjoyment

(rotgptratoomsaiwwdigoadtbaawwmtafttabggwatjoasmvc)

rolling on the gorund picking the rocks and twigs out of my shins as I wonder "why did I go off a drop that big" ,and also wondering why my tires are flat, thinking that a big garden gnome was about to jump out and steal my valve caps.
