I'm really diggin the stem. It feels good "sitting" on the bike. I haven't been able to take it out yet.

The chainline is slightly different from the other Komodo. I've read of several other people having issues with the Blackspire Blackguard. Mine is rubbing the inside of the chain a little in the top two gears, so I'm going to get some chainring spacers and move my chainline and blackguard inward a couple mm. Other than that...everything's come together pretty much as planned.

I weighed it for kicks and b/c I feel the need to use the scale that I bought with good money, haha. 30lbs 1oz. Still a lightweight.

These would have matched really well...but not worth the extra $175:

I wish i had one now.
Nice bike though. The process of building it was fun to watch. The frame is a sweet color.

It's deceptive...the pic's make it look sorta champagne'ish. It's pretty much silver with a lean toward ti.

Very nice dude.

Silver is fastest. I have four silver bikes.

I like the build, Ed. Nice Commode.

ed 10-21-08 09:55 PM

Now I have 2;)

Is that a new 'Zocchi? Dang, thru axle has got to be the way.

I like the red bits. Maybe a red skewer in the rear to balance.

Now all ya gotta do is get out and start scratchin' 'er up. :thumb:

Yeah, I was thinking about doing a QR15 Vanilla, but those are through the roof. This one will prob. take a pounding. It'll accept up to 2.8" front tire. I'm not going to go any bigger than 2.5". Now I gotta go beat the piss out of it.

I'm prob. not gonna spend any more coin on bling. The only reason I have a red stem is b/c I needed a stem. I would eventually like to replace my rear skewer with the bolt-on conversion for the Pro II rear hub. It's pretty slick...allen bolts screw into the axle from the ends.

yellowjeep 10-21-08 10:28 PM

Like an eno hub.

mtnbiker66 10-22-08 12:00 AM

Very nice. That front rotor looks tiny with that fork.

BFG 10-22-08 12:04 AM

I reckon this one will last 7 weeks.

One of Ed's JRA incidents. Since he didn't have a back brake on the bike he just stomped the wheel back into a semi round shape and is still riding it that way today! JK

I'd like to think that I'm man enough to admit that I had the chainring on backwards causing all of my chainline ailments. But since I'm not, I'll just say that my chainline is magically perfect now with no goofy spacers. Hmm...I just don't know about me sometimes.

Well then...all is perfect and I'm ready to make my rotors glow:thumb::thumb::thumb:

C Law 10-22-08 11:58 AM

nice bike

It looks like someone left a poopy stain on the dining room chair.

ed 10-22-08 12:50 PM

Yeah...that was me.

theextremist04 10-22-08 02:26 PM

I was gonna say something about riding, but I won't. Or at least not for a couple weeks.

ca7erham 10-22-08 02:33 PM

Oh, I get it. The stuff below the kenda crap is jamis. Wow, I just saw that. Damn red and black.

I didn't realize there was any riding in your area that you could make that happen. 'Round these parts we can make our rotors turn blue.:thumb:

pinkrobe 10-22-08 11:27 PM

I'm having a hard time making it out - what fork is that?
