Is lockout bad?

Hey, I just heard that if u forget about releasing lockout in your rear shock and go over bumps/rocks/what have u, it might mess up lots of things, such as bearings and shocks itself. Any of that true?

like you said it might mess things up if you're going over regular trail type stuff, but doing any jumps with the the fork and shock locked out definately wont be good for them

yea, it is, supposedly.... but when ur going uphill on rocks or roots its better to leave it untouched, and not locked. All Im saying is that sometimes u forget about the damn thing and realise its locked out only when u hit some bumps and ur a$$ gets a huge kick.
