Are there any SPD shoes that you can REALLY walk around in?

I bought a pair that claimed to be just like street shoes when you're not on the bike, but if you walk across pavement, you can hear the metal just scraping and scraping.

So has anyone found a pair that have the cleats recessed far enough back into the sole to be actually usable for wearing other than biking?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I have the specialized tahoe shoe. I really only hear the clicking when walking down stairs. Might also depend upon the cleats that you attach. I have Forte Campus pedals.

the sandals are pretty easy to walk in. not perfect but pretty good and they don't look like cycling shoes.

I have cannondale roam shoes.. they are like clipless hiking boots.. ugly, but comfortable. after I get off the bike I can walk around all I want and even drive home in the things. They are better comfortwise than some regular shoes I own.

cons - ugly , have regular laces, heavy, maybe not as stiff as the regular shoes, but close

^^ Those are what I have as well and are having a problem with. Maybe my cleats suck. Perhaps the cheaper ones stick out further or something.

I don't have any trouble with my cleat hitting the pavement when I walk around in my Pearl Izumi Vortex shoes. I am using Crank Brothers cleats.

+1... good shoes, I've had the same pair from 2002. Same deal, ugly and wish they didn't have laces, but have not found a suitable replacement. Using SPD cleats with them.
