2005 Specialized FSR XC comp worth $600

I'm a roadie wanting to get into some mountain riding. The bike fits me pretty well. It is in great condition with a few scratched but no big deal. Just wondering if thats a good deal or if I should ask for less.

How is the riding in Fist City? I would imagine its pretty rough. You might want to think about something a little more burly

Thats less than 50% of the MSRP for a bike that's only three years old. Yeah I'd say that's a good deal, but then I'm biased because I have that exact model/year MTB. Don't know what kind of riding you plan on doing. I use it on technical, single track. It's a real nice ride. I made one change, I replaced the Manitou Splice with a Fox F-100. Other than that, I've not had to make any other changes.

For some reason, I never took a pic of the bike after I installed the Fox fork. So I took a couple indoors, its the best I can do for now.

As for the Splice fork, there are a lot of opionions about Manitou and their Axle/Splice line. Here's what I found. I'm a little on the heavy side, just over the Clyde limit at 208. I had the springs in the Splice upgraded to heavy duty based on the success I had doing the same to my Axle fork on a Rockhopper. With the upgrade, the fork was better, but still a little soft and not as predictable for what I like. My son is a whopping 140 lbs, rides the same bikes. He likes the Manitou as is.
One thing is a fact. The Fox weighs at least one pount less, maybe 2 lbs compared to the Manitou and I can really feel that on the front end when pulling up for a jump. As I said before, I like the bike and would not consider selling it for $600 (with the Splice replacing the Fox).
It's your call, hope this helps.
