Sette Shadow
http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/186...Black-16.5.htm
So I think I have read all there is to read about this frame. What are peoples thoughts? It got pretty good reviews over on MTBR. I want to build it up with a 140-160 ish fork as a bike to mess around, urban/fr type ridding maybe some trail AM type stuff I feel like it with a long enough post. I have my other bike if I want to do long(er) trail riding. What are peoples thoughts on this frame? 16.5 Too small for somebody 6'? What would 5-6" fork do to the 70 ht angle? Am I being Dumb? Why the hell don't they give an ETT? What about the Steelhead? Price point only has the Pro size for 150 would this be a better option/fit? |
freeride forum?
Edit: nvmd they dont have one on this site.

Yeah I know I should ask on MTBR but I have been on this site alot longer and I like the people and all that.
They only make the frame in 16.5. But reading the reviews again I ran across this Those worried about the frame only being offered in a 16" size, can look at the dimensions of a 20" Reken and see that the effective top tube length is pretty close. So just get a long seatpost and you are set. I'm 6'0 and the 20" Reken was a little tall for me with no extra stand over. The Shadow has a 4" shorter stand over height, so it works better for people like me who have longer torso's than legs. |
Sette makes some ok bikes. I recently picked and am building a Reken.
http://www.mtnbikeriders.com/2008/08...-frame-review/ This guy gave it a pretty good review |

I should have figured you would show up with that. I really wish they had the 05 in that matt silver, but you live to close for me to get the same bike as you. We might run in to each other and have to battle to the death
|
The bike pictured is not the one they're selling. They're selling the bronze/black one. It's much lest "Tonka". Still has the tiki lettering though. Mine feels pretty nice though man...pretty nice...and you can get into the 55r for $259. It's a good match so far.
|
Damn that is pretty tempting. You have the 18.5 right? how tall are you
|
I'm ~ 6'2" and find the 18.5 to be great. Plenty of clearance for wiggle and plenty of seat tube for long trails.
|
That makes me feel like the 16.5 might be about right for me because I'm 6'0 on a good day. I dont know what to do.

Come to Topeka and check mine out. B2B seems to like it.
I don't know dude...I guess I'll be the first to admit that Jamis isn't quite as pristine and nice as a Transition or Kona. Prob. why they're cheaper. From what I've seen, this one is gonna suck it up for a while. I can say from personal experience as well as others that Jamis CS is good. When you buy the frame from Jensonusa, you still get the full lifetime. The 16.5" would be a good size for you for sure. I almost got a 16.5" b/c I was worried how comfy a Lg. would handle on drops and stuff. I'm glad I got the 18.5". It's still "flickable" and good enough for an Epic. The only thing that makes it a tough decision is the super cheap price on a lifetime frame...eh? Don't quote me, but I believe this is the color that Jenson is really selling: http://www.hollywoodprobicycles.com/...komodo_2-z.jpg |

Seriously though...if all I were doing with my bike was Urban and FR, I'd be on a 16.5" and I'm 6'2". I have decided to use mine for trails too though, so I'm on the next size up. I think he'll be okay on a Med. |
Thanks for the invite Ed, I'll get in touch. Yeah the extra 60 bucks seems pretty good for a life time warranty
|
I gotta say, that paint job is really ugly. The one on yours, chelboed is a lot nicer

Spend an extra $4 on some Krylon:roflmao2: I wonder if there's a way you could get a 2005 from Jamis??? Mine came striaght from them. |
Lest you forget the battle that would ensue.
I actually can get it powder coated for 50 bucks or so, but that kinda defeats the purpose of the cheap build |
The ETT on the shadow is 54cm according to Price Point... That seem really short for having an actual TT of 56cm. Edit: After doing a quick sketch shouldn't the ETT be longer than the ATT length?
|
Is EFF the same as ETT?
|
Yeah im a dumbass.
|
Shadow or Steelhead?
|
Steelhead
