raise handlebars w/o new fork.
is there a way to raise the handlebars w/o getting a new fork. The bike i have has the handlebars right on top of the frame. There are no spacers under the stem? Do they sell stems with a steep angles to put the handlebars higher? The handlebars already have a 1.5inch offset. Thanks.

Have you considered something like this Ahead Stem Riser .
I am not 100% this will work and either way it might look a little strange. Anyone know for sure?

Interesting. But I would think the steerer might not be long enough.

If you look under the stems listing on the site bg4533 linked to, there are a few mtb stems that goes up to 40 degrees, which is a lot of rise.
I don't see anything particularly wrong with that stem riser, except it adds another joint into your steering for flex to occur in, and I wouldn't be doing any really hardcore riding with it. I assume you would need spacers to utilize the full 3 inches of lift.

A high rise stem would probably be the better way to go if it lifts the bar enough, based on strength and complexity.

when i went with a shorter stem and a 2" riser bar it was what i needed.it took care of my hand pain without affecting my climbing too much.i do wheelies on some steep climbs now but only fell once.how much do you need to rise?that stem riser looks a little dangerous to me and my teeth

".i do wheelies on some steep climbs"
you know what your right... with this bike i was finally able to make it up a steep hill, with the help of new clipless pedals. But on my old bike with the handle bars higher i would do the same. Im probably going to just get that stem with the high angle.
Thanks again everybody for your help.
