Go with the Mono's. Sorry don't stay away from Hope brakes. I've used Hope, Avids, Maguras, Shimanos, Grimecas and Hayes and must say the Hopes are great brakes. And I'm not British.

Bleeding them (rarely needed in my 8 years of experience with them) is a piece of cake. No special hoses/attachments/kits, no pumps, syringes, etc.

No, that's not big enough. Where's that 2x4 I had kicking around. Ah yes, leaning against the passenger door. Okay, open the door slowly... slowly... Stretch to pick up the 2x4 which is now resting in a pool of oil that was dropped earlier and not cleaned up. Okay, got it... don't drip the oil... ****. Sigh. Jam the 2x4 in there - it's too long. Maybe if it's at an angle. Okay, got it. Get out of car. Where's the ****ing wrench? It was right here a second ago. I SWEAR I put it right... oh, there it is. <sound of 2x4 slipping off of brake pedal due to oil>
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3.
^^ Ya but I meant another person's foot . (That's what wives are for). I couldn't imagine wrestling it alone without the pump.

But with a bike, both ends of the equation are within arm-spread.

Actually, I use a bleed valve called a Speed Bleeder. It allows for one-person brake bleeding on cars. They would be cool to have on bikes brakes as well - unscrew 1/4 turn, pump/fill, screw 1/4 turn, done. Ultimately, brake bleeding on bikes is pretty easy...
