steel fully rigid recomendations
I've been desiring to get back to my biking roots a bit more and find a bike similar to what I was riding in the mid- late 80's. That is, a fully chromo, rigid bike that has traditional geometry and construction as the old x country race bikes of the time. I'm not looking for a single speed, I'm building one right now anyway, but just a rigid steel bike with modern brakes and shifting. Who's offering something like this currently that you can recomend? Thanks in advance!

Well... are you looking like simple as in, not fancy tubing, just general everyday frame, complete mainstream simple?
Redline D460 is pretty sweet. I know it has 29er wheels but i think you will apreciate it going over logs with a rigid frame (my opinion, decide for yourself). At a better price than the El Mariachi.

I was just reading about the Redline, but don't really know a whole lot about it. I'm not hung up on super fancy tubing but I tend to keep my bikes for a long time and whatever I go with I would like to stand the test of time. I definately appreciate the craftmenship aspect but am simply looking for a great handling, relatively light and simple setup.

Oh and yeah, I am leaning towards 29'ers.
