Shock Pump Quandary
Similarities:
They all seem to have a similar valve on the bottom. Most have the same piston. Some even have the same handle. Buzzy's Polinator looks kewl b/c it has a short tube so you don't lose much air when you put on/take off. http://www.universalcycles.com/image...small/1424.jpg This Manitou pump looks like Buzzy's: http://www.universalcycles.com/image...small/1641.jpg Yet this Manitou looks basically like my wrench force with a different handle: http://www.universalcycles.com/image...mall/11589.jpg These are the same as the second Manitou and my Wrench Force: Foxhttp://www.universalcycles.com/image...small/9098.jpgEkohttp://www.universalcycles.com/image...small/9097.jpgMarzocchihttp://www.universalcycles.com/image...mall/18625.jpgRockshoxhttp://www.universalcycles.com/image...mall/24179.jpg The only ones that look all that different are: SKS:http://www.universalcycles.com/image...mall/23247.jpg Topeak:http://www.universalcycles.com/image...mall/11590.jpg Planet Bike:http://www.universalcycles.com/image...small/9099.jpg Who cares, right? My beef: 1. My Wrench Force slightly leaks at the swivel joint. 2. I need to lube the piston valve seal occasionally. 3. My biggest beef is that they don't measure in small enough incriments. For air assist, they should be able to be accurate down to 5psi. 4. Who really cares, right? Just air it up and set the sag with a zip tie. Still seems cheap. |

Good point...guess I should have left it at "put on" but that is immaterial. This one actually looks nice.

Buzzy's, Manitou, Rock Shox, Marzocchi, Eko, Wrench Force, Fox and probably a few other 'Brand's' of pump are just renamed pumps made by a company called Giyo.
Giyo Shock Pumps: http://www.giyo.com.tw/web/03product/03shock/GS-01.htm Some of the Giyo shock pumps come with a 300 psi removable gauge, if lower more accurate pressure readings are needed replacement 100 psi gauges can be bought for these pumps. |
