Kona Ford bicycle
Anyone ever riden one of these? Someone is selling this on CL for $150. Specs are commendable and the bike is advertised as only ridden on the street 2-3 times since he/she got it from Ford back in 01. Im planning on getting it for a buddy for some very light xc.

Is it worth it or should I look for something better for about the same price. Only willing to spend $200. Thanks

$100, maybe less.
Heavily ridden or not, it's an old-ass bike.

It's a solid, basic bike; plus it's already disc-compatible (so you can quickly/cheaply upgrade it to Avid mechanicals and ditch those questuonable Joytechs). I'd go for it.

for 150 it's fine. The fork isn't great, and like dminor said, avid mechanicals would be a logical upgrade, but after a bit of mainteneance it should a be a solid starter bike.

The link you gave says it's a 2001 Kona Blast. The 2009 version has an MSRP of $700. If it's in good shape, it's a very nice bike for $150. What could you find better for that price?
But...is it the right size for your buddy**********
