Ergo grips
Has anyone tried Ergon GP1 grips? I was noticing my hands hurting today and was wondering if the grips would help. They say they help with numbness and palm pain but I'm not really experiencing any of those.
For me its more of a soreness on the outside part of my hand. I only notice it on downhills though, either because on the downhill I'm on the brakes more and straining the outside hand muscles or because on the uphills I'm pulling on the bars a bit more and not putting as much pressure on my hands. Any ideas? |
Mine have really helped with hand discomfort - I'll never be without them again...
They do take quite a bit of adjustment to get comfortable, but not a big issue..... |
I use them with Mary Bars. They are great.

I've tried them and think they're great for long distance, but could not get used to them for technical downhills. But if I was endurance racing or had serious wrist problems I would definitely use them. But neither of those apply, so I use Ourys.

I have the GX1 grips and I love them. They take a little getting used to because they feel different with your palm on such a flat area. The angle has to be adjusted right also or it feels like your hand is slipping forward on the grips. The only thing I would change is I am going to buy a new set with bar ends. I can put my hands in more positions then. I always had numb hands and wrist almost to my elbows and i don't have that anymore since I got these grips.

I hear that ergon grips are big with the "older" generation.

You are probably right. Because we punished our hands (and the rest of our bodies) much more than we should have - and are now paying the price of young stupidity.

The Ergon grip is like a rite of passage for the grey-haired crowd. I got my first pair this past summer.

Another +1 for Ergon grips. I need to buy some more to outfit my bikes that still have plain grips.

They sure make a difference the longer the race is too. I have far less fatigue in 12 hour XC races with Ergon grips than I did with regular grips.

They're like LA-Z boys for your hands. I would get them if 1) my hands hurt when riding and 2) they didn't make me look old.

You wouldn't get them because you need to be carded. I have a lot of grey hair so I was able to buy a pair even though I'm under 40.
