I have always been a roadie and will always be but, the kids want to get into MTB and I'm all for it as they are active in everything else and biking would be great to add to the list. What this means is I'll need one to. The LBS I deal with has a C'Dale F7 disc 2008 on clearance and he really recommends it too me. I won't be doing anything crazy just some normal trail riding with the kids who are 10 and 5 years old so nothing crazy. Here are some spec's

Riding with the kids this will do.
Any thing more and you'll be wishing for better components.
Especially that fork. I'd place this bike right on the boundary where city bikes end and mountain bikes begin.
For the right price it could work.

I completely agree, it's a very low end mountain bike it is adequate if you are going slow on tame trails. However, if you ever get into more serious mountain biking, you'll want to get a better bike.
