I hope you're not thinking it's one dollar because that's just an idiot who doesn't know how to use craigslist.

I'm 5'10 and ride an 18 but i had to fiddle w/the stem a bit to get her to fit perfectly, so im gonna go ahead and say 19' might be a bit big but you should ride it and find out how it feels.

There are "hardtails" and then there are them full suspensions.
You wont get a decent fully for under 1000

you can find a decent entry level hardtail for around 400 NEW
you can find good deals on used, but decent hardtails.

When the bike your looking at can be found under "toys" in Xmart, then you have issues. These bikes can not hold up to the rigors of real MTNB, let alone riding off curbs and the streets.

They come poorly assembled, nothing is true, and the parts are crap.

Its full-rigid hardtail..
suspension isnt the only thing a mtn bike is all about. The Xmart bikes are toys.
Niether does having gears.

They have MTN bikes out there that are single speed (only one gear cog and one chain wheel) fully rigid (no suspension at all) They even have them in 29 inch tires, and I saw a 27.5 inch tired bike in a magazine I read on the airplane the other day.

With that being said, I wouldn't even ride an X mart bike to check my mail here. (one its bout 2-3 or more miles of busy road) and the brick roads and speed bumps are probably to much for the bike to handle.

The only department store I'd buy a Bike from is either Dicks or a place like Academy Sports.

They sells giants there, you can get a Giant warrior? for like 200 something. lower end components, but it owns any xmart shelf bike. My uncle got his with a Rockshox Dart 2, disk brakes on both front and rear, big knobby tires, WTB saddle, and like acera components for 250.

Thats a good bike for the money, just not that particular one. If you look around, you could probably find a close out 08 for around that price and even if you get the new one, it'll probably only be 50-80$ more.

As previously stated Velveet'o...Jamis, KHS, and Haro make entry level FS bikes that are equipped "decently" and get the job done. Granted I'm too much of a snob to ride one as my primary, but I'd sure bang around on one now and then.

Rated well even with a Dart.

Don't forget the Giant Yukon FX - - probably one of the best FS values out there:

The Trek 3700 price ( $300 ) is negotiable and has less than 50 miles on it,the guy had sent me pics and it looks almost new,i also called all 4 nearest Trek dealers and all their 08' models are sold, the 09' model is between $379 and $389, i might offer him $225 and we can go from there.what do u guys think?
