2007 Kona Stinky
hey guys.
I hate to do the "is this a good deal thing" but here I am.
Currently I am riding a 2006 Kona Caldera, but I have found a 2007 Stinky for sale in my city.
The Guy is asking $1,000 for it. Is this a good deal?
I'm going to check it out tomorrow, to see the frame size and what shape its in, but it sounds really good to me.
thoughts?

Are you planning on using it for its intended use, or for XC type stuff (like the only guy I've ever met with a Stinky does).

Then one wonders why you responded.
To the OP - - it is not a "deal" or anything at that price. If it hasn't been thrashed or abused, it is an acceptable value. The Stinky is one of the lasting marques of the brand for sure; and if you like the ride of their walking-beam faux-bar suspension, it should do what you ask of it.
Little niggle: If you get it and it still has the Gravity external BB, pay attention to the plastic dust seals on the outside of the cups. They deteriorate quickly in dirty/muddy conditions and quickly let the bearings get trashed.

Did you follow the links I posted? To Kona Stinky reviews and to the Kona Forum at MTBR.com.
I don't have to know anything about a specific Kona model to know the OP would get some help following those links.
And I responded because the OP posted twice and nobody was helping him out.
What's with the bad attitude???...

Wait, is that a pun? If so, its quite good.
I would personally not it for XC, that guy was in WAY better shape than I am, and I'm sure he had more experience, but I could kill him on climbs and just the general XC stuff we rode.

If you had spent any time here instead of waltzing in and starting up with D...you would know that he is incapable of having a bad attitude.
All he did was state something rather obvious. If the OP is not smart enough to google some answers prior to posting a question...then he doesn't deserve your un-educated response.
I'm the one with the bad attitude.

Just as long as we understand each other. We could set up some joint custody. I'll get Monday, Wednesday, Friday. You get Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. We'll alternate Sundays.

All I require is one day with a pink-panty'd whiner with a chip on his shoulder to purge my evil for the week...though he must be gullible enough to come back for seconds.

If you do not plan to do any DH or at least aggressive trail riding, the Stinky is a waste of your money. Is $1000 a deal for it (somebody bought that thing to use as a commuter?!!)? Maybe; depends on the condition of the bike, I suppose.

Its an alright deal for a new bike. But there are better out there. The parts on it will break pretty fast.
