Thats Cummins. Not cummings. now don't go saying your breaks aren't stopping either.

Oil rigs used to use a version of the ole Johnny pop'r engine. "Six foot stroke and a six inch bore" Most have been replaced now with electric motors.
A friend I went to high school with used to collect old Maytag Washing machine motors. Yes there were gas powered washing machines and the ones he collected were weed eater size two cylinder motors.
Check it out

Powerstrokes are a joke unless you have a 7.3, thats the only reliable one.

I love going to our interstate fair - - local steam & gas buff club always has a bunch of interesting stuff. I go drool at the Cleatracs and Clark Airbornes. And gawd how I wanted a JD Model B when I was looking for a tractor! I love the simplicity of two cylinders, flywheel start and an engine that will run on darned near anything.

We had a JD 40, when I was a youngin, It was a later version of the "B" But it was still sweet. The IH "C" and "M" 4 cyl's, we had, while good machines just didn't have the sex appeal.
Although that IH "M" could pull anything that didn't require a D9 Cat.
I remember my cousin Chris and I hooking a chain between the JD "40" and the IH "C" to have a home made tracter pull. It was a romantic idea that one could pull the other one, but in the end they just popped the front ends up till we had to feather the clutches and it ended in a draw.

Ahhhh Good Times.

B2B's note to self: longer chain hooked from front end to front end.

Hooboy. I ended up with a sweet little Allis Chamers B, which was basically a 1-bottom tractor. One of the things the purchase came with was an old 2-bottom iron-wheeled-monster JD plow. I still remember trying to turn sod with both bottoms hooked in good. I was kinda horsing it until I turned my eyes back forward and saw the front end pawing the sky. Fortunately I hit the clutch and slammed back to earth.

We had one of these on the farm (dubbed "the ol' 96er") and it had a 460 in it. It was awesome, and I'm talkin' about full lock dirt road powerslides while steering with one thumb awesome.
