Which bike carrier is better?
I am shopping for a hitch style bike carrier but am not sure on which one to get. It is either between one that attaches to the frame or an upright carrier were you sit the bike in front and rear slots. Thank you.

I have a Saris, that the wheels sit in the slots. Have had no issues. It even came with a 1 1/12" and a 2" hitch adapter. Nice if I wanna put it on the girls car. At high highway speeds, like 75mph or so, it rattles a bit, but other than that it rides nice. Very nice for bikes with very slope downtubes or FS bikes. I got the big one, 4 bikes, but should of only gotten the 2 bike model. Nicer than having them pilled in the back of the truck sliding around and ****.

Thule T2 is the nicest one I've encountered. Bike sits in wheel "cradles", and an arm locks over the wheel. Especially nice if you use a bike with a nontraditional top tube.

I think the t2 is considered the best one out there, only real disadvantage is that you are more limited in how many bikes you can carry, 2 or 3 with the attachment, but w/ 3 bikes its gonna stick out way far, its also a heavier more expensive setup than some of the other options but i don't think thats a big deal

Instead of starting a new thread I'll bump this one up. I want a rack for the hitch on our Ford Freestyle and the only criteria are that it swings out of the way so the hatch will open and it keeps the bikes away from the car. I would prefer one that holds the bikes high so it doesnt interfear with our back up sensors. Searching ebay there a hundreds from Alan, Saris, Thule, and Yakima. What should I be looking for? I would like to stay in the hunders or less if that can safely be done.
