Florida Mountain Biking
How's the Mountain Biking scene in Florida? Specifically near the Kissimmee area. I live in SoCal where it's mainly dustbowls, but the riding is pretty awesome.
I have some family that lives in Florida and I will eventually pay them a little visit. I want to know if it's worth taking my bike with me or leaving it at home. |
Florida is pretty flat and straight, so if you have a roadbike you might wanna take that instead

its mostly single track trails..... ocala can provide some good drops and things to hurt yourself on..... i live in melbourne and mostly ride some mild trails around here and road bike.

So then, no technical trails where you would typically ride a dual suspension?

I stand corrected :)

Whatever it is, just make sure you can pedal it fast.... LOL.
And no, it's *not* a photochop. http://www.tsplace.com/jeep/gators.jpg |
Uffff. That's a lot of Crocs!

I'm guessing Alligators ;)

Fine. They still have a big mouth and lots of sharp teeth. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless you put one of each side by side anyway. -D

there are definitely some really good places to go biking, for being really flat there is a surprising amount of technical trails around.

Yeah, Ocala is pretty good. The best trail there is called Santos, or Belleview, depending on who you ask. It is an old quarry with some nice twisty singletrack, semi-technical rock gardens, and some jumps and big dropoffs for the DJs and BMXers. One of the drops is about 20 feet and it is locked up and only unchained when there are paramedics on site.
Most of the other trails I've encountered here are very flat singletrack. Great for singlespeed mountain biking if you've got one. |
