That's in really good condition. The bike frame is perfect sans one tiny dent that doesn't look like one that will result in a crack, and the rest of the bike is in really great shape. The paint is chipped in some areas, but the bike still looks really good.

I also just replaced the chainrings, cassettes & cogs, and the chain. :/ If I had to be honest and say something was going to break I'd say the spindle needs replacing, and I would say that it would only need to be done in about a year or so.

Am I ripping myself off? :O Also is there a "For Sale" part of the site that I don't know about?

Marketplace/For Sale:

http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=213

You will need a paid membership to advertise it there; but it's worth it and you want one anyway. I'm going to leave this up for a little while on the generous assumption that you are genuinely seeking advice on the selling price. But then it will get canned.

Really?

Oh crud, I am just seeking advice though.

I only asked because I wanted to browse through the forum's classifieds to see if I am getting ripped off. :O

Darn, someone answer my question before I get canned. :O

Spindle?

And I think getting $1000 for a 5-year old bike is pretty good.

I would agree that $1000 for a used 5-year-old bike is good. You can always list it high and "be talked down" if you are concerned. It is better than underselling and the buyer feels like they got a deal when you knock off a hundred bucks.

Do a craigslist search of the west coast via Crazed List (www.crazedlist.org). You can select the category (bicyles) and select the entire West Coast (or any other region) and you'll see all of the craigslist postings for the whole region.

I didn't see anything specifically for an 04 SJ Elite but if you type in 'Specialized Stumpjumper' you'll get enough hits for a bit of comparison that may help you.

Wow, thanks guys!

I really appreciate it, and I do feel a lot better about the sale now.

BTW, the buyer's asking if the shocks "lock out", and I'm not sure if they do. I have a Answer Mantilou Black front fork and a Fox Float R on the back, does anyone know if those lockout or if those give a very stiff ride?
