New to mountain bikes need help
Hey guys i am a little new to mountain bikes and i need help selecting a good bike to buy. I want in to of course be able to take on mountains but also be somewhat of a dirtjumper, my price range is probably about 4-500. anything in mind? thanks

hey, i would have a look on a internet trading site, and buy a second hand one.
With that, i would replace any parts that are not good enough.
things i would look for on a bike:
- forks(suspension)
- frame shape (dirtjump or mountin)
- i dont like dual suspension.(especially cheaps ones that are just heavy)
- Cranksets/ chainrings and cassette.
- also the handle bars, traight or curved =]
What country are u in, because in New Zealand(where i live) 4 to 500 isnt enough to buy a new bike that would be reliable enough. Thats why i'd go for 2nd hand bikes, and improve it myself.
You should also consider saving more money to buy a more expensive one.

thanks man i live in the united states and i just bought a bike using your info. I bought a kona shred with full suspension for 400 dollars and i love it! i bought it used of course but works like a champ. thanks for the help
