my new ride

My new ride: https://www.jamisbikes.com/bikes/04_dragon.html

I am transfering over all of the parts off of my 02' FSR. Never could get the thing to shift right in 3 years so its time to scrap it. Just gonna get the frame, and it should be ready by the weekend to i can ride! It'll be nice not having to screw with ghost shifting

Nice 853 hardtail.

Not sure of the logic about moving the parts to a new frame fixing shifting problems, unless you had alignment problems on the old frame (bent hanger, stays etc). Good luck with it, though!

the only possible reasoning for the ghost shifting on the FSR was the frame because i had replaced everything and it still did it. You name it and i replaced it. I took it to 5 shops to get it fixed and it always returned. It still agitates me b/c everybody acts like it's in my head or that they can fix it.......

Cant wait to take it on the trail and see how real steel is

For what it's worth, my first two mtn.bikes were chromoly frames, one frame (DBR Axis TR) weighed only 3.8 lbs. It was back in '92 I think, and I still ride it sometimes to this day....

Fair enough - hope the shifting probelms disappear for you then!

Steel is very real! I haven't ridden a steel MTB in ages, but I absolutely love my 853 roadie. Test road quite a few alu bikes, and they were nowhere near as nice. I love the feel of lower reynolds numbers and 4130 cromoly even more...

btw, what's the price on that frame?

I dont know if i can say what i'm getting the frame for. It appears that i'm getting a bro deal since my brother knows the owner. I'll say this much though, i'm buying it for less than the cost of a Surly Instigator

Nice choice though, hope you like it!

Hey man... you gonna want to ride that thing this weekend then? I should be in MI this weekend, around yankee springs. Also found some cool trails in Barrien Springs(I think that's what it's called)

I can't remember where in MI you live, but I'm always up for a ride. (the girlfriend will be out too... dog wont be as she just got fixed and isn't ok'd to run with us until the stitches are out)

Well if you're up for it, let me know. Later man....
