most comfortable saddles

Ive started riding again after a few years off due to injury. I now realize that my current saddle is extreamly uncomfortable, almost unrideable. I am in the market for a new one. I am concerned w/ comfort more so than wieght but I dont want my grandmothers lazyboy on my machine. please make a few suggestions for me as I am out of touch w/ the latest and greatest. I am 5.10 170lbs. and will spend up to $150 if needed. thanks

Remember though, a lot of the times a saddle feels ****ty after not using it for a long time. I'd give it a month to readjust to your keester, and then decide if it's still like riding on a raw 2x4...

I've tried so many saddles to no avail...

I have no advice to give. I'm beginning to think that there is no such thing as a comfortable saddle, just tolerable ones...

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

WTB rocket V.

I run one on my dam road bike, which gets way more time of sitting than my MTB.

the most comfortable saddle is the one that your *** likes
If you thought your current saddle was comfortable at one point, I imagine it still is. Get you *** on it for some time to break it in again.

Saddles are very subjective. For example, I like the feel of a very hard, very narrow saddle. But also like the feel of a nice leather brooks. Two different worlds. Maybe check out the saddle swap thread in the classifieds. Bt remember to give it a while for your butt to adjust, and the saddle to brake in. The brooks on my fixed gear townie took a good 100+ miles feeling like crap, and very sore taint, now I won't ride on the road with anything else.

This depends upon your sit bone width and of course height and angle. If your saddle supports your sit bones properly you should be okay, which is why people go for harder ones. Softer saddles will put you INTO the material and put pressure in places you don't want it to be.

I my rump loves the Fizik gobis, but everyone's is different. Try a seat and make sure you are setup right for the bike!

I had the problem of not getting the right fit. Once I got fitted and with the right seat, it's amazing. Let the seat break in for a couple hundred miles of riding as well.

WTB Pure V.
I loved mine until it got cheeto'd

I have Sette Rev that is damn near the same shape as the Pure V and it was only 14 bucks.

+1 here too. As noted by many, saddles are so personal; but the two that I have loved the most are the WTB Rocket V and the Syncros FR. Both were light enough, tough as nails and all-day comfortable for my sit-bones.

SDG Ti Fly C is my personal favorite.

Or look for a Specialized dealer and have them measure your sit bones, and they can set you up with an appropriate width saddle.

that 3rd ride back on the bike, after bein off for some time, is always the most excruciating... you can;t imagine it could get any worse (or better) until the 4th ride... then just settling down on the seat for that 1st 30 secs brings tears...
you gotta tough it out, then make decisions.

I'll throw in with the Rocket V also. most of the WTBs all seem to be comfortable for me

I also really like Selle Italia XO Trans Am - its an all-day saddle for me, on or off-road.

Specialized saddles all seem to work for me... anything less than 143mm does not, for an mtb saddle, I like to go 155mm.

Cloud 9. Avg in size but feels like a pillow for the butt. Almost too soft. Not alarming ugly either! Paid 25 Buckers for mine!

+1 I hate to mention that other bike of mine, but it has a carbon shell saddle that fits well enough for 100 plus miles. no padding. No problems

Hey, Ed-

The issue goes a lot deeper than just buns. I wish my ass was all that mattered.

I have Terry Fly Ti's on three bikes. MODERATELY comfy.
