Pics of Fox Creek Road Gap

1 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone, here are some of the pics i took on the weekend of a road gap built by grant allen while i was riding at Fox Creek, Adelaide's main DH track area.

The first is of me at the top of the road gap. Grant took the ramp down after he did it so that no one could do it and seriously injure themselves.

The second is the side view of the gap. This really shows how big it is.

Im pretty sure the gap will be shown in Disorder 5 but if you cant wait that long, read about and download a movie of Grant doing the gap here:

That groomed grass section is a road.

Yeah, it just wouldn't sound the same if it was a "ledge gap" or "grass gap" hehe.

Technically it's a step down.

Not really, a step down is a jump with a down ramp lower than the take off. This is no jump.

Definitly a step-down. A road gap would have the landing around the same hight as the take off. Still is a sweet drop.

Dirtbikedude, a road gap can be a step down, theTour De France road gap was a step down. there are thousands of road gaps like that. Just watch some freeride videos, you'll see more drop road gaps than level landing road gaps.

But yes this is a step down over a road, hence it's a road gap.

By definition it is a road gap. Around here though we would consider it a step down or step up(MX). It just depends on how one views it. I always call thoughs step downs because if the road was not there it would be considered just that, a step down. Where as if you were to clear a jump over flat ground for that distance it would just be a long arse jump but if you dig the middle out or place it over a road you now have a gap. Guess we'er just being' nit picky though;)
