getting in to MTB

im looking into mountain bikes that i can take to the dirt/trails and use for the streets in general. a friend of mine mentioned a bike such as the banshee amp or the specialized P series. ive read that its a dirt jump/urban. and ive notice some of the p series is either single speed or has gears. im 5'11'' and 200 lbs. will those type of bikes be okay for me for daily messing around(tricks and jumping off stuff) in the streets and in the trails(small to mild jumping)?

ps: what other bikes do you recommend?

thanks in advance

Those bikes do sound like good options. Go down to your LBS and ride one, by all means. If you plan to ride trails gears may be the way to go. For goofing off a singlespeed may work. It is all relative.

My friend has a P2 and rides it on the trails with me, but also takes it DJ'ing. Seems like a pretty bombproof bike.
