Question about bashring sizes.

Are bashrings larger than the max size they are stated for? For example, if a bashring says fits up to 40T will it be the same diameter as the 40T ring or will it be larger? Basically what I am wondering is if a 40T bashring will fit a 42T ring?

Larger yes but if you then get one for a 42 it will be the same size as the ring.. meaning.. it won't be protecting the teeth..
