Crank Removal.

Crank Removal.
Well, I looked around and there didn't seem to be a parts dedicated sub-forum so I am just putting it here as it is on a mountain bike 
.
Anyway, I have some kind of Shimano crankset and I would like to take it off. (because I simply want to) But it seems to be stuck on pretty tight. It is obviously a three piece and the bolts on both side have been removed. I know that it is a square rod that the two cranks bolt onto, but that is about it, any ideas on safe adn effective removal?

You need a crank puller/remover.
You can go over to the bicycle mechanics sub-forum and get lots of advice there if you want. There you will also find a 'sticky' directing you to Sheldon Brown's awesome website where you can learn how to do all kinds of work on your bike. Also, go to Park Tool's website, and Bicycle Tutor for lots of how-to's.

Park CCP-2 should pull it right off. I have also gotten them off by removing the bolt or nut and riding the bike. But if doing that be careful and when they come loose do not continue riding. Prepare to walk from there on. But It usually will loosen an otherwise hard to remove crank. Worked on another bike that I rode for two days but it wouldn't come off. So it's not guaranteed.
