Trunk bike rack for a small frame

I am very new to mountain biking, recently purchased a Trek 820 since it was affordable and could possibly get me to actually exercise. It has a very small frame (13") and I'm having a lot of trouble finding a decently priced bike rack so I can actually take it places. Adding to the problem is the fact that I have a leased car so there is no possibility of putting on a hitch or mounting to the roof... and the ones less than $100 don't seem to fit properly - because the frame is so small, there seems to be an issue with being able to fit the poles in the "triangular" area where the top bike bar meets the bottom bike bar (sorry for my lack of knowledge on terminology!)

Can anyone recommend a good trunk bike rack or some other solution? I've already tried popping off the front tire and putting it in my back seat but that also does not fit. Help! I have 3 years left on my lease...
