I bought a Specialized Rockhopper Expert Disc and rode it for the first time at the trail and popped a tube. I know this is a newbie question but would low tire pressure make you more susceptible to popping a tube? I find it weird because I rode the same bike for two years and never popped a tube and I ride a bike for the first time and it happened.

Both very high and very low pressure can be a culprit. Of course a little grit or misplaced rim tape or something could just as easily do it.... and there's always the slight chance that the tube just wasn't as good as it should have been and was defective.
