Yeah yeah this should be under racing but it may also be interesting to those of you who do not venture into the Racing forum ...

The return of racing at Mammoth and the "Kamikaze" is official. For those that do not know is used to be one of the premier courses in the world attracting the worlds best DH and XC riders.

Mammoth Mtn to Host California Golden State Mountain Bike Championships

"Mammoth Mountain has a long history of hosting world-class mountain bike events dating back to the 1989 World Mountain Bike Championship. The last competitive mountain biking race held at Mammoth Mountain was the 2005 U.S. Mountain Bike National Championships.

Taking place at and around Main Lodge, the event will feature all disciplines of mountain bike racing: Cross Country, Downhill, Super-D, Mountain Cross and Kamikaze. This event will also play host to a special “Legends of Mountain Biking” race featuring mountain biking legends Mike “Too Tall” Bell, Stu Thompson, Tom Rogers, former World Downhill Champion Greg “H-Ball” Herbold, Jimmy Deaton, Miles Rockwell, Bernard Unhassobiscay, Dave Cullinan and many others."

Awesome. i wonder if Tomac will make an appearance? Some of the DH gals like Davidson would be cool (Missy won't be able to attend, of course).

It would be cool to have like a masters of XC, too. Ned, Tinker, Sydor, etc..

I would think, if his schedule allows, Tinker would show since he is a local racer/rider as for the others who knows.

If I only make one more race this season I hope it will be this one. I start rehab tonight so I have nine weeks to get my knee back to a point I can ride and then a week to dial in the bike.

I've been wanting to go Mammoth since I qualed for my first national finals. Gonna be too close on the heels of Whistler this year; but I should pencil it into the sched. for next. Kamikaze is my kind of sickness.
