Help! Shopping for a new ride

Well I am brand new to the forum (1st post) and am hoping you all can help. I am looking to get a new ride and am hoping for some suggestions.. I would love front and rear suspension but.... I am 6'2" and weigh about 270lbs what kind of options do I have? I am thinking in the $2500 and below price range. I am not big into riding YET... As I ride more and more I am hoping that the 270 will start to shrink a bit! Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,
Fred W

$2500 is a nice figure to work with, you'll definately enjoy whatever you get after getting advice from the experts here (not me) Trek, Gary Fisher, Cannondale are definately worth looking at. Good luck and let us know what you get.

Don't count on it. The "experts" here will say:

"With a $2500 budget, you're better off buying used."

used? LOL ouch.. I am just looking for something that will be a good ride and perform well with my kind of weight on it. I am not going to end up a racer just hoping to get a nice bike that I wont have to upgrade in two years when I get lighter and better at riding.
