Bent crank arm, can it be fixed?
 

Tonight, while riding with my wife. She wiped out pretty good crossing a creek. The way she went down, it hit a hard rock and bent her left crank arm to the point that its rubbing the frame. Can this be fixed by re bending? Or am I going to have to buy a new set of cranks. The bike is a 98 Gary Fisher Aquila, in very nice shape otherwise, but I don't want to have to spent a @$$ load of cash on the bike. Just not worth it being that old.

Jenson USA sells just the left crankarm for a square taper crank. I"d give you a link, but I don't have the technology. It is part #CR409Z21. You might want to check your LBS first. Any good shop keeps replacement lefts in a few different lengths and offsets.

Thanks for that info, will recheck Jenson. Trust me, first thing tomorrow, I am heading to the LBS. The more I look at it though, I am wondering if maby it was the BB she bent somehow. I am not a bike mech, but I have owned and messed up enough bikes to know its not always what you think is wrong :roflmao2: I did look on Jensons site, saw a set of Alivio cranks for under 40 bucks. Had a set of them on a old bike and never had a problem with them, so that always a option also. She is still a beginner,and by no means a die hard rider, so I am going to go the most economical way. If I can just get a replacement arm, then that would be awesome, but again the bike is a 98 model, is that not going to make a difference?
