Yes, yes...file a claim with Mongoose and WalMart. Add to the Litigation-hungry greedy America. You will notice that the bike comes with a disclaimer that says "Not For Off-road Use". Try winning that battle in court and thanks for adding to one of the worst aspects of America. BTW...what's the "claim" for? Pain and suffering? Not to steer people clear of mountain biking, but you need to buy a recumbent and hit the paved paths if you're pissing and moaning about a cute little cut like that. Cheers.

I guess GT is too good still for pacific to list them on their brands list.

Team Bike Forums. It's the factory DH rig for shredding the gnar.

They're called housing stops and they can be located in various places on a bike frame, even very expensive ones. It's not the bike's fault you have no skillz...nor taste in bikes...

as a former bike shop owner and racer I hope you keep shopping at Walmart as there's plenty of places to get scratched on anybike when you can't manage an 8" drop on a full suspension bike without hurting yourself.

But he has a 1/8' deep gash! That is 1.5" deep!

Since I was getting bashed for having a WallCrap bike from the get go I just wanted to be able to get my money back from the bike so I could get a new one.

Job hunting sucks. Will work for Good Bike!!! LOL

Since I have been very cost concious in my shopping for a new bike I noticed that almost all of the components are the same on the bikes with one main difference...the frame. I am going to go out today and see about riding a hard tail. It is a full time job looking for a friggin job.

Any feed back on this? Other than weight what is the big deal in brands of frame?

Brands of frame are like makers of cars. Some will say it has to be Italian, others Ford, and more Trek. No, buying a bike with a car name probably isn't a good idea either!

I would start by going to as many local bike shops as possible, and riding what is in your price range. See what works out best for you.

I am guessing you will see Trek, Gary Fisher, Specialized, Cannondale, and several others.

Ride them around, see what is comfortable. Other than that, pick the color you like.

Did you try craigslist to find a used bike?? You would even be better off with a 3-4 year old used bike as long as it wasn't beat up. Craigslist in my area always has people who thought they liked mountain biking and bought a $1200-$1500 bike and quickly found out that they hate biking!

Hey Guys I got a job!!! WOOT!! I went by a local bike shop (Phat Tire) and they had a demo bike marked down about $800. It is a Gary Fisher HiFi and I even like the color. I have it on layaway and plan on getting it ASAP.

Thanks for all the input and bashing. It's OK I can take it.

Might be fun to SS one, that way you dont have to worry about the non shifting, and just try to crack the frame.
I will let you take mine out! I have a full suspension Huffy with front disc that I am converting to more of a commuter once I get my new bike. I have broken this thing every time I have taken it out. Bent the rear wheel on a 4' drop the other day and in doing so the handle bars decided to rotate and almost kill me. The brakes never stay adjusted so I have to stop and adjust them in the middle of the ride at times. Oh and the shifters dont get me started there. I have 14 out of 21 gears because the left shifter does not acknowledge the 3rd shift. I can get it to shift but it takes both hands which is not practical when riding a trail.

I just have to make it a few more weeks
